I appreciate your efforts in writing this article & don’t mean to disparage you, but there’s so much information that goes into this discussion & people need to be prepared ahead of time. One very important note is to make sure that nothing in the CBD will be contraindicated with many prescription medications, especially for diabetes, hypertension, blood thinners & anti-platelets for example. If a company’s website says their formula is a “proprietary blend”, call before you buy, please!
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a group of cannabinoid receptors located in the brain and throughout the central and peripheral nervous systems, consisting of neuromodulatory lipids and their receptors. There are two main types of receptors in the ECS, CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are primarily located in the central nervous system and brains of mammals, and CB2 are generally found in the peripheral nervous system. There are two main cannabinoids mammals produce- 2AG and Anandamide. Read more by clicking here
This is the hemp oil directly extracted from the plant. This is the base active ingredient for any other cannabinoid product, but it can be purchased and eaten on its own if you are looking to avoid any other ingredients and get a value in terms of price per serving. There are many different methods used for extraction. We recommend products that are CO2 extracted as other methods can leave chemical residues. These are primarily sold in oral syringes that allow the customer to dispense a very small amount of product at a time. There are generally three types of oil.
There’s some confusion between medical marijuana CBDs that contain THC and the THC-Free Hemp CBDs within states. CBD Daily uses CBD derived from hemp that is THC-free – which is drug-free, and can be sold everywhere legally. However, there are a couple states that have certain restrictions on CBD sales that prevent us from selling there. Please see our map to the right to see if we are able to ship to your state.
Another field in which CBD is creating a buzz is in the area of mood disorders like anxiety and depression. Both conditions have been treated with a variety of medications, courtesy of Big Pharma, that have had varying levels of success. Again, the long list of side effects can be off-putting to someone who just wants to get through the day without the sweaty tension of anxiety or the gray haze of depression.
Transparent test results that are easily accessible also help customers ensure they’re looking at data that’s relevant to the product they’re actually ordering. Past performance is no guarantee of future results, and a good grade for one batch of product doesn’t always translate to the next round. That’s why responsible testers don’t stop at one good result, but continually update customers with the latest data available on their products.
“The need for enhanced bioavailability of the CBD phytonutrient is paramount”, adds Moriarity, “but tricky to accomplish without synthetic chemicals.” Most CBD products do not offer any bioavailability optimization, so 90 percent of the CBD is lost to first-pass effect, a phenomenon of drug metabolism whereby the concentration of a drug is greatly reduced before it reaches systemic circulation.
To add to the challenges, brands in the CBD space are struggling to verify their own products. Laura White, founder of Soul Addict, started a CBD line after she found it helped her with crippling anxiety. Wanting to create a reliable product in both purity and potency, she’d test on top of the farm’s tests and kept running into the same problem: The lab results didn’t match. When White finally found a farm that had accurate tests, she’d partner with them. A few years later, Soul Addict now sources all its CBD through small, family-run farms in Colorado and White is in the process of integrating her own crops from North Carolina. The lesson she learned? Brands should be constantly testing their product to verify their farms’ reports.
Hemp oil cold pressed from hemp seeds grown in Canada. This hemp oil is also from an industrial hemp variety of Cannabis sativa which doesn’t require herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers. Hemp oil is considered to be very nutritious with an ideal profile of omega 3 and 6, but the main purpose for it being in our blend is to have a base oil to emulsify the hemp extract into.
All this talk about THC lands us nicely in the whole “Full Spectrum vs. Pure Isolate” debate. Once you begin shopping for CBD products, you’ll notice a lot of jargon that gets thrown around without much explanation. Now that we’ve introduced THC into the conversation, we can talk about the difference between, and relative benefits of, Full Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate (and the lesser-known contender: Broad Spectrum).
CBD oil is a refined oil rich in the cannabinoid molecule cannabidiol, more commonly known as CBD. Unlike it’s more infamous cousin, THC, CBD is not psychoactive, meaning it doesn’t cause the traditional high associated with cannabis. And while CBD oil can be sourced from any cannabis plant, it is commonly derived from agricultural hemp—cannabis plants bred to express less than 0.3% THC and thus have no intoxicating potential.

Upon investigation there are companies that engage in the use of “window dressing.” For example, one popular brand brags that they use the superfood moringa. This of course lures people in. But keep in mind that for added antioxidant benefit, you would need to ingest 7.5 g (7,500 mg) within the context of a meal or beverage. The entire 30 ml bottle of said brand contains 33.3 mg; so at the recommended dose of 1 ml daily, the daily dose of moringa would only be 1.11 mg.

Called a week later, and was told to email the manager, and was informed he always responds within 1-2 days. Emailed him, and it’s been 2 weeks, since. I called GreenRoads, asked my question, and got an immediate, literate response (multiple hemp sources), as well as a discussion on what differences might or might not occur, and how to check lab sheets for comparison. Switched over to GreenRoads, which seems otherwise comparable in its manufacturing methodology to Elixinol.

I have fibromyalgia going on 18 years & I’m about as physically & mentally beaten down as humanly possible. I’m on fentyl patch 50mcg & oxy. New laws going into effect removed my oxy & fentyl doesn’t cover breakthrough or bad days. I’m barely Mobil @ this point & my options with my doctor is to just raise the fentyl patch to 75mcg. All other options really don’t help since our governor signed into law removing DBL use of narcotics to treat those with severe chronic pain. I would appreciate from educated users respond to the products that work & the forms & dosage.

• Raw (Green) – This is as close as you are likely going to get to the plant growing in the earth. It will be composed of cannabinoids, plant terpenes, and plant matter. It’s generally a thick paste with a small recommended starting serving size of 1-2 grains of rice sized servings per day. The taste will be very earthy (we use “hempy” as an adjective.)

CBD oil has become the general term used when referring to these different oils, but while they derive from the same plant, they are actually quite different. Cannabis CBD oil sometimes contains high quantities of THC (between 5%-10% or even higher), while hemp CBD oil usually contains less than 2% THC. Industrial hemp, on the other hand, contains even less THC (under 0.3%), and therefore can be sold, bought, consumed and shipped legally in some U.S. states.

CBD is extracted from Industrial Hemp Plants that contain Cannabinoids. You cannot experience any psychoactive effects “High or Stoned” with our products. They all contain less that .3% THC or 0% THC. Every major civilization in history has recognized hemp as #1 on its list of important plants. The ancient Chinese, Indians, Egyptians, Assyrians, Persians, Greeks and Romans all revered hemp as an incomparable source of food and medicine. Now modern science is validating what the ancients all knew — and uncovering exciting new discoveries about CBD. Recently (August 2017) FDA has declared CBD as “beneficial” and is asking now all users of CBD products for their input.
Correct Answer: Each batch of flower AND finished product should be tested by a state certified testing facility for potency, legality and safety. These test results should also be made available to any patient that requests them. These tests should certify 3 things: the amount of CBD contained in the product, the amount of THC in the product (the starting hemp plant material must test below 0.3%), and the lack of mold or toxic pesticides.
Honestly, you can find CBD oil just about anywhere. Went on a cross country road trip this summer and was laughing at the “CBD for sale here” signs in these tiny little nothing towns. My experience? Buy the good stuff online. I’ve heard consistently good things about Elixinol, Purekana and green roads. Honestly don’t know what the hell this stuff is that they’re selling all over the country, but I’d stay away from it

So, back to the difference between how effective hemp extract is compared to marijuana extract.  It is the subtle mixture of how much CBD and how much THC and how much of the other cannabinoids that can change the effectiveness for people.  For most of us, we won’t notice much difference in the subtle variations, other than the extract from marijuana will make you high, while the extract from hemp won’t.  However, there is a very small percentage of people whose bodies can tell the difference.  Some people find that they get better results when using an extract high in THC.  And, some people find that they get better results when using an extract that is low in THC.  This just comes down to these people’s bodies; and again, the percentage of these type of people is very low.
